Hematite

What is Hematite?
Hematite, also spelled as haematite, is the mineral form of iron oxide, one of several iron oxides. Hematite crystallizes in the rhombohedral lattice system, and it has the same crystal structure as ilmenite and corundum. Hematite and ilmenite form a complete solid solution at temperatures above 950°C (1,740°F).

Some say the gemstone hematite brings inner peace and dissolves negative energy into love. The powerful stone has been used for centuries as an alternative form of healing. Its history dates back to ancient Egypt when the stones were used as an alternative way to stop blood flow and remove poisons from the body.

 Magnetic Hematite

The iron content in magnetic hematite is believed by some to cure blood pressure disorders and kidney problems. It is said to be effective in healing pain because it maintains the charge of nerve cells. Magnetic hematite will also regulate the blood flow in the body and is used to cure and relieve headaches. Other physical gains such as relief from cramps and spinal problems are also said to be present.

Chakra Balancing

In the “Handbook of Chakra Healing", hematite will balance and activate the root chakra. A healthy root chakra is important in maintaining life energy, endurance and connecting to nature. Lack of self-control and self-centered behavior are signs of an unbalanced root chakra.

Emotional Health

Hematite is also known as the "stress stone" according to crystal energy therapist, Karen Ryan. Ryan says to carry your hematite stone in your pocket or leave it under your pillow at night. Wearing your bracelet on your wrist will ensure the stone will help your thoughts to be more focused, balanced and clear, aiding in communication and self-esteem.

Astrology

Hematite is associated with astrological signs Aries and Aquarius. It is also said to have the ability to balance the energies that exist between the mind, body and spirit, creating harmony within yourself and all around you.
